Raffles Music Festival – FAQ

Screening Round

For Solo Division Competitions:
Please submit by 1st June 2015 a video recording of one piece of your performance.
The video recording need not be the selected competition piece, and can be a recent recording of not more than 6 months old.
Submissions can be by email or Youtube link to the Festival Committee.

Repertoire & Duration
Category Repertoire & Duration
Children Division Free Choice. 1 piece to a maximum of 3 minutes.
Junior Division A Free Choice. 1 piece to a maximum of 4 minutes.
Junior Division B 2 pieces of contrasting styles. Maximum 7 minutes.
Youth Division A 2 pieces of contrasting styles. Maximum 8 minutes.
Youth Division B 2 pieces of contrasting styles. Maximum 10 minutes.
String Ensemble Free Choice. 1 or 2 pieces to a maximum of 7 minutes. Please indicate in the registration form the timing of each piece.
Brass/Woodwind Ensemble Free Choice. 1 or 2 pieces to a maximum of 7 minutes. Please indicate in the registration form the timing of each piece.

＊The piece should fit within the required duration. It is permissible to leave out repeats and it is also acceptable to make cuts as long as they are not to the detriment of the music.

＊The adjudicators reserve the right to select sections of the piece to listen, or to stop a performance if it exceed the time limit.

Chamber Music and Chamber Ensemble

It is not required to send in a performance video with your registration. There is only one live round for Chamber Music Competition.

Division & Age Limit

Competing members cannot exceed the indicated age limit of each category as of 1st June 2015.

Travel & Accommodation

Festival Committee works with the artistic panel to plan the festival programme while our travel partners (E-Link Travel Company) will assist you in planning your trip and stay in Singapore. Travel partner’s contact is available HERE.
